A lot of people ask me, how can I get more followers on Twitter? I dont subscribe to systems that promise to deliver thousands of followers in a matter of days etc, as people that simply auto follow back. as you followed them, is by and large a total waste of everyone’s time.
What you really want is people that are listening to what you have to say, and then perhaps acting on it…The answer I believe is..
Be more interesting, and be more Interested.
How do you be more interesting?
Well you can start off by making sure that your Twitter profile is fully completed, adding a great photo, and making sure that your Bio has 160 characters as allowed by Twitter. Try and make it keyword rich, so you can get found, but also try and add some things that make you more interesting.
Do you have hobbies? what do you do outside of work? what do you love to do? what makes you laugh? and so on.. By revealing more about yourself, you will make yourself stand out from the crowd, and be more interesting.
Be honest, open, personal & transparent
You should also Tweet interesting stuff. Now I am not going to tell you what is interesting, as that is very subjective, but when tweeting, try and think, how can I make this ordinary situation, more interesting, to my followers?
Perhaps you can add a photo or video or audio of the situation, perhaps adding a comedy element to the message, perhaps adding a question at the end of the message, to invite your followers for their reaction or their view on what has just happened.
Be more Interested..
Take an interest in others is also massively important. Twitter allows you to engage with others so make full use of that. Ask questions from others, ask people for their views, opinions, don’t just talk about yourself.
Retweet other people’s messages, if they are of interest to you and your followers, comment on their blogs, and generally take an interest in what others are doing. If you or your followers can help others, then try and do so.
In sharing , helping and truly being interested in others, others will become interested in you, and so your followers will increase.
