Sharing on Twitter is the new social currency
Let me ask you a question.. When did you last phone someone up and share something fairly meaningless . You know a bit like this tweet of mine….
That’s the point, you don’t but many people do and that can be incredibly valuable to your small business. People generally like to share things, good experiences, bad experiences, mundane things, interesting things etc… and sadly for most small businesses they totally ignore all these types of tweets with an attitude of why would I care about that type of tweet.
And that is where you are so missing out on one of Twitter’s goldmines of information. You are learning about me the individual, what rocks my boat, what makes me tick, what I am passionate about, what I really don’t like and so on. The key is to be actively listening and then to think to yourself what can I do with that information.
Everyday people are talking and sharing things. They can be sharing things about a competitor of yours, they can be sharing things about your business, about how to improve things and so on. All of this in the right hands can and should be incredibly valuable. I know that too many people think that Twitter is all about people telling you they have just had a cheese sandwich and why should anyone care? But here is the thing, start thinking out of the box and utlising that information to market your goods and services.
