I find this list quite depressing. At what point was it decreed that Twitter should be a commerce-oriented tool? 75% of the rubbish I receive on Twitter is from people trying to ‘promote their brand’, sell me some candy floss service I don’t need, or generally spamming me.

Twitter training for heaven’s sake. All you’re doing is churning out yet more hordes of Twitter spammers, or people under the impression that I can’t live without their latest fad idea.

Any possibility that Twitter might be promoted as a way of socialising, spreading non-commercial local information, having fun, discussing items of news, making friends…?

Thanks PC for your comments. You are right, of course people should be having fun with Twitter, and not just using it to promote themsleves. In fact in many of the other articles that I have written, I emphasise that it is not just about selling or promoting yourself.. It is also about social chit chat, getting info, finding new people to talk to etc…

As far as my training goes, thats the whole point of why people should have some training, so that they learn how to use Twitter more effectively, which does include not spamming people, not autofollwing, not doing auto direct messaging, not having RSS feeds and so on…

None of the people that I have trained are Twitter spammers – far from it..

      best
